The KPI Institute Consulting implemented a Performance Management System, following a preliminary Audit. We developed the capabilities at the corporate level, then cascaded them to divisional, departmental, and individual levels. In other order of ideas, it was the employee buy-in stimulated by supporting the client to raise awareness on the Performance Culture.
Established in 1976, Vinamilk is the largest dairy company in Vietnam, and one of the largest employers in the country. We got to know each other in 2019 when invited to assist them in developing their performance capabilities. Considering the complex organizational structure, shifting to a systemic approach in terms of performance was a must.
Approach
To effectively implement the Performance Architecture, we created 3 workstreams, including both on-site and off-site consultancy.
The project started with the Performance Management System Audit, targeting 5 different capabilities, namely Strategic Planning, Performance Measurement, Performance Management, Performance Culture, and Employee Performance Management. Using evidence-, perception-, and interview-based assessment, we evaluated the existing capabilities. After this, recalibration and standardization recommendations were submitted, based on the assessment results.
We continued the mission by designing and implementing a Performance Architecture based on KPIs, at a corporate level. During this stage, we organized face-to-face workshops to define the strategic objectives, KPIs, and initiatives. Also, the KPIs the client documented were reviewed, with insight provided based on best practices.
The final component of the project targeted to align the Performance Architecture to the departmental level. Following the same interactive approach from the previous stage, the objectives and KPIs were cascaded to lower levels. In this way, the core activities of each department were aligned to the corporate strategy.
